Any project may report more than one (or may not specify a) Permissible Use for each project. Therefore, the number of projects listed in each category may not add up to the total number of projects for the State.

LAND OWNERSHIP

Any project may report more than one (or may not specify a) Land Owner Type for each project. Therefore, the number of projects listed in each category may not add up to the total number of projects for the State.

RTP ensures equivalent support for all trail user types.

  • 40 % for diverse recreational trail use (more than one user type)
  • 30 % for motorized recreation use only
  • 30 % for nonmotorized recreation use only

The program provides funds, based on off-highway fuel taxes generated in each state, to develop and maintain recreational trails and trail related facilities for both motorized and nonmotorized recreational trail uses.

RTP Encourages Agreements with Youth Corps
The RTP encourages States to use qualified youth service and conservation corps to perform appropriate projects, see: Youth Workforce Development Resources. Corps work in all States, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico.
